Oh wow, it's been awhile my blogger buddies! Sorry it's been so long, I've been very busy! We are starting to potty train Shaylee....it's going pretty well, she hasn't really peed in the potty but she has gone "Number two" almost everyday in her potty. She just needs to know the feeling of when she has to pee....it might take awhile!

Things have been good here, John is working like crazy....as usual! He'll have a nice break over new years though. Shayle is still loving school, Next year she'll be headed for Kindergarten.

My monroe is healed and I LOVE IT!! I get so many compliments on it, it feel like second skin, I hardly feel it. It's so stinking cute!
I messed up my hair for the holidays too.....I cut BANGS....short kindergarten mom cut my bangs...bangs. EEEK!

A booger???

I did it, I got a Monroe Piercing. It hurt a little, but it is healing nicely. After I got it done I asked Shaylee what was diffrent about Mommys face, she pointed to it and I asked her what it was and she said "A booger" Funny girl!!

Life has been very very busy. John has been working a ton.....12 hour shifts pretty much everyday. This leaves me not much time to myself. We had our Buddy walk on Sunday, it was a blast. Pictures are up on my Flickr account. I'm too lazy to post them here.

But that's all the time I have for now. I'll try to update soon!!

We LOVE going to the Growers Market on Saturdays. It's fun to wake up early on a Saturday and head off to buy local fresh food. This Saturday we took Piper on her first trip to the market. She was so well behaved, everyone she met commented on how gentle and well mannered she was. Shaylee made sure to tell everyone about her her "pipper" Piper got some homemade doggy treats from the Black Dog Bakery. They are such a great size, perfect for the gazillion treats Shaylee gives her a day. Shaylee is soo tickled that the dog will actually "sit" when she tells her to.

We love having Breakfast at the market. One vendor makes the BEST french press organic coffee. She also makes sweets like biscotti, zuchinni bread, cookies and muffins. Every baked good she makes is made without refined sugars, eggs or dairy. They all still taste amazing! Although Shaylee wasn't too fond of the zuchinni bread. She was happy eating a peanut butter cookie. We got lots of goodies, including fresh local cheese, made from milk of Local cows. I can't wait to try it, It's fresh mozzarella cheese with homemade ring Bologna swirled together....yumm!! We also got some local honey, flowers, beets, onions and of course doggy treats!

I've found a great website that lists Farmers Markets all over the country. So check it out and see if there is a Farmers market near you............it's a fun time for all!!

I feel like we've finally hit the Jackpot with Piper! What an Awesome girl!! She slept all night last night....we didn't hear a peep out of her! This morning John woke up at 5:00 to let her out and he had to wake her up, poor girl was still sleeping! She ate her breakfast and went and stood by the door to go outside! Shaylee has never been so happy, she is very excited that Piper is our puppy. John explained to her last night that Piper was staying at our house forever (She did not want to go to bed last night, he had to tell her she would still be here in the morning) Shaylee told John that doggy needs a fence. She was right, but I don't know where she got that one from! This morning Shaylee and I took Piper to Calico Creek (pet store) to get some new duds. She got a pink collar with pink rhinestones, a pink necklace, a pink leash, and a collar charm. She looks super sweet in all her pink! I never thought of myself to be a small dog person, but it's fun. I never thought I would ever dress up a dog until now.....it's soo tempting. She needs a tutu!!

This morning I got an awesome comment on my blog. It was from Adventures in Babywearing! I WON her drawing for the Dog Days of summer. This Vera Bradley tweed purse will go great with all my fall clothes!! Anyone who knows me, knows how much I ADORE purses! I will give this Vera Bradley Lovely a good home!! Thanks Adventures in Babywearing You made my week!!

O.k, Well, I didn't want to write this post because I feel like an ass! Moby didn't work out, he went back to his fosters after we had him nearly 2 months. He was just waaay to unpredictable, he snapped at John and he acted very nervous whenever Shaylee would approch him. We decided it's best for him and us if he didn't stay. He's been gone for about 3 weeks. We've been looking for a puppy, We still really wanted a dog. We wanted something to grow with Shaylee. Well, a few days ago we went for groceries and on our way home we went to the SPCA on a whim. We asked if they had any puppies....The woman at the counter said "no" but we decided to look anyway. We found the sweetest little puppy, with the sweetest brown eyes! We asked about her and she wasn't yet available because she had just come in and didn't have her shots. We put an application in on her and told us they would call when they looked our paper over. Today I finally couldn't take anymore and I called them, they told me I needed to bring a collar and leash and they closed at 7:00. So Shaylee and I rushed up to get her. She is such a sweetie, she is playful yet calm. She dosn't make much noise and she loves to give kisses. She is perfect for us, She's a terrier mix so she won't get very much bigger than she is now. Her name is Piper and we think she's pretty cool.....she already knows how to sit, shake and laydown!! We usually have to learn the hard way....but in the end we always get perfection!!

I entered Shaylee in our Towns "Baby Sweetheart" contest. Our town has a weeklong Fourth of July celebration, which includes a parade, carnival and Fireworks. I sent in a picture of Shaylee and they made a can for her, The can was placed at a local Hardware store. Each penny put into the can counts as one vote. Thankfully the people at the Hardware store know Shaylee, they have a Bulldog at the store named Bubba and SHaylee just loves him up whenever we go there. They made sure to tell everyone to vote for Shaylee, Their work paid off and Shaylee is one of the final four!! She gets to ride in the parade tonight. She is going to wear a navy blue Sailor style dress with red shoes and red bows in her hair. Please send a few good vibes our way, I hope she wins and I really really hope it doesn't rain!!!

Please, someone tell me how a child is soooo afraid of things like hanging lights and Balloons. But is in complete adoration of snakes, dragons, monsters, ghosts, and scary bears?? She is OBSESSED with Dragons, she talks about Dragons all day...I don't even know where she heard of Dragons.

Also......Sponge Bob. She has never ever watched sponge bob. But I was flicking through the cartoon channels and Sponge Bob was on. Shaylee yelled "Bunge Bob, wow" How does she know who he is?? It's mystifying!

1. I wish I lived in the 50's when women wore dresses everyday, wore aprons, and did their hair in curls and twists.

2. My dream is to open a children's boutique.

3. I love to learn new sewing techniques, my most recent is shirring. Up next...I would love to learn to smock.

4. I'm a fussy sleeper. The sheets have to be smoothed out, no wrinkles. I have to have some sort of white noise and I usually sleep with one earplug in.

We went to pick up Mister Moby last night. He is such a nuzzler, he's a sweet boy!! He seriously thinks he's a lap dog, First it's the nose, then his giant head and then he tries to fit his whole body on your lap. Did I mention he's HUGE!! He filled up the whole back of the van.

He has been great, very curious. No whining and he really doesn't mind being in his Kennel. Actually he's in there right now and I don't hear a peep. He's very interested with the dog in the mirror looking back at him. He really wants to chase small animals, so right now it's a little stressful taking him out to go to the potty. Oh and this morning i saw the smile.......it was a bit frightening, he looks mean, but I knew he was happy he was rubbing his head all over me and his tail was going in circles. We haven't really let Shaylee play with him too much yet, he's still a bit nervous. Today we might muzzle him a let her play. Keep your fingers crossed for us!! I hope he continues to be a good boy!!

Oh By the way his new name is Redford...Red for short. We picked the name because he's handsome like Robert Redford. I'll have to get some closeups of his face. He looks like he has 5 o clock shadow!

I'm not really fond of the name Moby. Moby sounds like a name you would give a dopey looking mutt, not an elegant, powerful greyhound. We have a few names that may work, let me know what you think.

Red- His color is actually known as Red, so we thought this may be a fitting name for him.

Dane- Because he looks like a Great Dane

Corona- Because he's the golden color of Corona beer......which John and I are big fans of!

His racing name is "Above and Beyond (Rooftop Moby)"

Settling in...

Moby is at his foster home and is doing great. He sounds like such a neat guy. He SMILES!! Big huge doggy smiles. We can't wait to meet him. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him

"He seems quite kid-safe so far. No food aggression, no sleep aggression. If I had a little one, I'd let him play with his toys outside only, just cuz he's so rambunctious with them. He's been around 3 kids so far, all Taylor's age. No issues. He was afraid of a huge ball the kids were playing with so he ran away. That's all he's shown fear of, and he got over it in 2 seconds, and watched out the window. So it was more of a startle than a fear. He's definitely not going to nip if he gets scared, as long as he can get away.
And he does some weird things. Daren swears that Moby SMILED at him when he came home yesterday. Like the closed mouth, pull back lips, show teeth smile. (I've never seen a smile in person before). He said it looked ferocious, but he was super happy. AND- he's a buzzsaw. This morning, I got out of bed and he was SOOOO happy to see me awake I guess - he BUZZED at me. I guess it's chattering, but that was funny! It was really loud, you'd think his teeth would hurt. He buzzed and rubbed his head all over me. Like a big cat purring. What a hoot!"

I can't wait to see him smile.....I've never seen a dog smile before. Shaylee is soo excited, she keeps telling me "goggy, peepee outside" "goggy, walk home" This means She wants to take the dog for a walk. "goggy, in there" as she points to the crate. She's even been putting some of her stuffed dogs in the kennel.

We went to a few yard sales last weekend and Shaylee found a very real looking stuffed bulldog. On the way home she kept pointing to his butt and saying poop, peepee. Is my child the only one obsessed about the word peepee and poop?? She 's a silly one!!!

We have some adjusting to do. John got switched to the day crew at work. It usually takes people years to move from nights to days, but John got in pretty quickly. He will now work 7:00 am to 7:00 pm two days on and two days off, and everyother weekend off. He bought a truck a few months ago (a much older one) and he can't find his emmissions parts (they don't make them anymore) so he can't get it inspected....ugggh! So we only have one car, which he takes to work. So I am home without a car until he finds a new truck. I'm just glad we only live a few blocks from Shaylees school. I can walk her to and from school.

O.k now i must get some housework done while Shaylee is at school.

Long overdue Update!

We have been sooo busy! With tons of yardwork, playing in the sun, and sewing like crazy I havn't had much time at the computer. We have had awesome weather! Shaylee loves to be outside. This is great because I was starting to worry about her watching too much TV. I've been sewing like crazy. I'm hoping to put some things on ETSY. I have an account set up, but nothing to put up for sale yet. I'm working on tote bags, bows and some custom Boutique childrens clothes. In a few weeks John is putting up a chainlink fence, it's going to be such a relief letting SHaylee play outside. People drive like idiots down our street, and Shaylee dosn't know STOP!! The fence will be up Just in time for Moby. Moby will be arriving in PA on Saturday. He will be fostered near us for a week or two. We're excited! He was chosen for us by the president of the Greyhound resuce agency around here. He's a cutie!!! He kind of looks like a great dane to me. Well that's all for now.....I got some sewing to do while Shaylee watches the little mermaid. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I finally got enough time to myself to upload our Easter pictures. I didn't get many good ones....Shaylee is in the "I hate the camera" stage of her life. Hopefully that will change soon, I love taking pictures of her. We went to my aunts for dinner, Shaylee had fun entertaining everyone She told them all about the boat, seamonster, mermaid and the song of the sea. I'll have to get it on video, It's a really funny story she tells!!!

She wasn't really into getting her baskets on Easter morning. She got two new dresses and a Swimming suit.

Dog update...

John and I talked to the President of the Greyhound Rescue. She is going on another dog run to North Carolina in a few weeks. She is going to hand pick a dog that is used to being with small children. So we are hopefull this will work out. I still really miss my furry "baby" My parents went to the mall today and I guess the Rescue agency had a fundraiser/awareness table, and they saw Costello. If i knew he was there I would have had to make a trip to the mall!! But maybe that would have been worse, seeing him! The lady who is helping us with Adopting a Greyhound said we can take him back if we want to.....but I'm just not so sure he's the right "fit" for us. This sucks!! Shaylee keeps asking for her "goggy"!! It's sad :(

My buddy had to go back to his foster parents. We had him for a little less than 2 weeks. He was really growing on me. I'm sad that he had to go, and so is Shaylee. She had the most heartbreaking look on her face as he drove off with someone else.....he's not her doggy anymore. He took a nip at her, it didn't hurt her, but it's really scary to see your childs face in a dogs mouth!! I don't know why he bit her, and we never will know. But we knew that we couldn't risk it happening again. I don't know what were going to do from here, but we would like to have a dog. I just don't want to go through a puppy stage. We'll see though...John really wants a puppy.

Easter Treats....

Today when I went to Jo-annes to pick up some last minute easter basket fillers, I found this sweet little chick. He was 50% off, I just had to buy it! I made some Creamsicle dip for tomorrow. It looks perfect in the new little chick bowl.

And I'm a sucker.....I let Shaylee have the whole spatula, covered in creamsicle goodness. I let her have it with her own free will, needless to say It's smeared in the living room, Kitchen, Dining room and anywhere else she may have wandered with it.

Easter Egg Fun!!

Shaylee colored her Easter eggs today. She didn't stick her WHOLE hand in this year, just half of her hand. She really liked the Sesame street stickers and faces that came with they dyes. I made some Silk Tie Eggs from the Martha Stewart website. They turned out really neat, but my camera is crappy and It won't take good pictures of all the intricate details. We'll be eating Egg salad sandwiches for weeks!!

Shaylee loved to plop the eggs in the dye....sending it splatering!

Shaylee and Costello are doing great together. She love to give him treats, she take them out of his kong (a toy that holds treats, to keep dogs entertained while alone) and feeds them to him. He takes them so gently. She likes to give him kisses on this back too. Here's a video of the two of them.

He did great on the ride home. He was very interested in everything. He sniffed out everything in the house, and made a few of Shaylees stuffed animals his own. She was happy to share. He's doing great with Shaylee. He found the couch, and I'm pretty sure that's where I'll find him most. He's a loveable guy, he loves to follow you and rub his body against you. No It's not what you think. We are getting a furry "baby" His name is Costello. He's a retired Greyhound. He's not even 2 years old yet. We have to get in touch with his "foster mom" about a time to pick him up. I'm hoping by the end of this week. We are excited beyond words!!! He was our first choice, but someone had an application pending. But we got a call today, and Costello will be ours. We will be able to have a "trial" period for 10 days, to decide if he's right for our family. Ahhhh....we are just soooo excited!!!

Where have we Been??!!

Wow, Life has been busy!!! We are keeping ourselves busy with lots of things! I've started Spring cleaning, I put out all my spring/easter decorations. Shaylee has gotten to a stage where if you leave her alone in a room she will destroy it in 10 seconds flat!! So I havn't had much time to sit down at the computer and upload pictures. But i do check blogs every morning while Shaylee and Dad get their morning cuddles.

Another reason why I've been so busy is because I'm starting an at home Business. I'm making hairbows, clips, tutus and other fun stuff. I've been busy making bows at night after Shaylee goes to bed. I'm stocking up to do some Craft Shows this spring. Hopefully this will get me enough money to start an online business. If/when I get a website, there will be much more to offer. Including custom handmade dresses, twirl skirts, petticoats, appliqued t-shirts, embelished jeans, mini tote bags and vintage pillowcase dresses. Also a section for Moms, including handbags, pins/brooches and some bows and flower clips for The Mommys. I'm thinking Big!!! With a website I will custom make everything to order, so I won't have to stock up and drive myself crazy making all that stuff!!

Oh, and we are going to adopt a GREYHOUND!!! yippee, our application should get to it's destination today. We are soooooo excited!!

My Birthday was March 2nd and I got an AWESOME Birthday gift from my husband! Let me explain....We never had a "Real" wedding. We got married in a courthouse! John was in the military and it was very hard to plan a wedding, we never knew if he would be out of the country or not, so we kept putting it off and putting it off. We hated being apart and he was spending a lot of money driving to PA for the weekend. So on a whim we went and got a marrige license and got married the next day at 7:45 on New Years Eve Day. So, needless to say....we never exchanged rings. So guess what he got me......A wedding band, a lovely one too!!! It's handcrafted by a local jeweler. All my jewelery is from the smae place, it's so unique and beautiful!! It has (3) .15 diamonds. I love it!!!

I also dyed my hair brown. I hated keeping up with the roots. I don't think Blondes have more fun!!

O.K i feel better now, I was really neglecting this little blog!

We took Shaylee to see Sesame Street Live on March 6th. She had so much fun!!! A few days before we went we "called" Big bird, Burt and Earnie, Elmo, Zoe and Cookie monster and told them we were coming to see them. So she knew she was going to see all her Sesame Street friends. This was her 3rd time seeing the show. She wasn't as wild. she was a bit more calm this time. I think she was in awe!! So here are some pictures of the show!!

Valentines Day Party

Shaylee had her first Preschool Valentines Day party on Tuesday. All the parents were invited, so John and I were excited to go. It's amazing how well she listens and follows directions at school. Her teacher told us that she likes to help the other students push in their chairs after snacktime. She also dosn't like to sit during circle time......She wants to get up and dance and sing. I think she has a crush on a little boy in her class, she "calls" him on the phone. During circle time the class sang the "I love you, you love me" song from Barney. At the end she got up out of her chair and walked over to her little boyfriend and poked him in the chest and said "I love YOU" It was soo sweet, i wish i had video taped that moment!! She was all decked out in her valentines day outfit, and I made her a special Valentines day bow that looked so pretty ontop of her head!. She looked like a little lacy Valentine, she even had on her pink glittery shoes with the little heel. She loves to stomp around in them....I have got to get her into tap dancing!!!

No School today!! We have lots and lots of snow! Today was Shaylees first experience out in the snow. She really didn't like getting all the extra clothes on! She looked like a little marshmellow in her snowpants and coat. She would walk and fall down....and just lay there, not moving and yelling "HELP!!" When we finally got outside (it took 15 mins to get her all dressed) she didn't have much fun. I guess my girl just isn't a snow bunny. She did manage to get pulled around the yard in her sled and make some snow angels. The snow is too light and fluffy to make snowmen...bummer!

Not a happy girl....I put her scarf on wrong. That really made her mad!

2 weeks ago......sinus infection, ear infection. Dr. gave Shaylee Omnicef. Got massive Diarrhea, accompanied by a horrible diaper rash.

I made Shaylee a dress from a pattern, Whoo Hooo!!! I did it all by myself. I did have to ask a few questions though. It was such an easy dress to make. I made it a little longer than i wanted to. I was working on a pair of capri length knickers to go under the dress, but It would be pointless because the dress would cover them.

Last night I made her a T-shirt Dress. Which is basically a shirt with a skirt sewn on. I'll take pictures and post them later. Making dresses and sewing is really fun for me. Here is a picture of the first dress.

She's just so dramatic....she wasn't in the mood for pictures.

Shaylee loves Curious George. One thing that curious George does a-lot is he scratches his head when he's thinking. Now Shaylee scratches her head when she thinks. It is so funny. I'm finally getting around to posting Shaylees montage. All my pictures were so unorganized, so it's a bit scatterbrained. But one of my new years resolutions is to organize my pictures better. I had such a hard time getting the music for the montage, it had to be "Upside down" by Jack Johnson....no other song would have been right.

2006 was a year of firsts for Shaylee....her fist steps were taken in 2006, her first trip to the beach, first time to the Buddy walk in NYC, her first car, her first day at school. It was an EXCITING year!!!

Christmas Morning

On Christmas eve Shaylee got out of her bed and must have fell asleep on the floor by her gate. I think she was trying to get a peek of Santa. When she woke up, she asked "Santa come?" As we ere walking downstairs, she stopped and yelled "COOKIES!!" As soon as she made her way down stairs she could have cared less about all her presents under the tree....She walked right over to the fireplace and looked to see if Santa had eaten his cookies and drank his milk. She did get around to opening her presents. She got lots of new clothes, fridge phonics, alphabet bingo, an Eloise DVD, Curious George DVD, a Jacks big music show CD and a guitar. She got so many more gifts, but i can't remember them all. She made out pretty good this year!! Once again I didn't get many pictures....she was just too busy!!

I am finally getting around to posting Christmas pictures. We've had a busy, busy week!! Shaylee loved Christmas this year. She understood that Santa brought her presents and she really enjoyed opening them. Although all the clothing got tossed aside, lol!!

On Christmas Eve, Shaylees Meme, pap pap and great gram came to give her her presents. She got lots of new clothes, puzzles, videos, an aqua doodle, and a fairy quilt for her twin bed (when we decide to move from her toddler bed). I tried to take lots of pictures....but most of them were of the back of her head. She was too excited about presents to pose for mom.

Shaylee wanted to sit on the potty...which wasn't out of the box yet, lol!!

Last week felt like fall!! We played outside and Shaylee played in a pile of leaves for the first time. She drove her car around too. She loves to drive her Barbie VW Bug. Christmas House Tour

Well, I've decided to do this neat thing going on in Blogville. Boo Mama'sChristmas Homes tour. Come take a look at some of our Christmas decorations, but don't mind the toys scattered and the half eaten piece of toast on the floor. I just made some Mexican wedding cookies and i have some Bananna Bread in the oven right now, It smells great!!

Today John and I went to Shaylees preschool to watch her during music class. She loves music and it was really neat to see her in her element. She knew all the words to all the songs, she was the most enthuisatic one in the class. She had fun strumming the guitar, playing the drum, and shaking the jingle bells. She also was very excited that mom and dad came to visit her!! I wish i had a video of her when we walked in the door, she was so excited she didn't know what to say!! Christmas Tree Decorating

Unbelievable, Tragic and so sad

On Friday night my next door neighbor was killed. It was the day when winds were very high. She took her grandaughters dog out for a walk everyday while her grandaughter was at work. On Friday while she was walking the dog, a strong gust of wind blew off a galvanizd steel roof off of a coalyard building and sadly she was right in its path. Someone reported the building being damaged, and that the roof had been blown off. No one knew she was under the rubble. Her husband grew worried and started to look for her, he walked to his grandaughters house and saw fire trucks and police cars. He told them his wife had been missing for over an hour and that she frequently walked the dog in that area. They said there wasn't anything they could do for him and left!!! He started looking through the rubble and found his wife and the dog. I just can not believe the way this was handled by fire officials and the police. The family is devastated, I think her husband is still in shock, It's just so tragic and terribly sad. I'm at a loss for words......it's just shocking, it was such a freak accident.

O.k First let me say, I finally got the courage to enter the attic of our house (which was once my grandparents house) I found lots of treasures up there.....vintage and retro galore........I was in heaven. I found old board games, a folder full of Natalie Wood paper dolls (Shriek), old prom dresses, dolls, teacups, and newspapers. The finding of the newspapers is what prompted this post. I found a cut out of a newspaper article "Secrets to a Happy Marriage" this was an Ann Landers article. It's amazing how the times have changed...this article was written in 1971.

The Secrets to a Happy Marriage

1. If he says, "I won't be home for dinner tonight, don't wait up for me" don't ask where he is going. Such a question gives the impression you do not trust him.

2. If he comes in very late, don't ask hime where he's been. Such a question gives the impression you are insecure.

3. Keep his clothes in perfect condition.

4. Keep his stomach full.

5. Keep his car clean.

6. Keep the kids quiet and away from him when he comes home at night. Questions can drive a father crazy- especcialy if he doesn't know the answers.

7. Give him plenty of sex no matter how tired you are or what kind of day you've had.

8. Don't ask him for money.

9. Starve yourself if you must, but stay a size 10 forever. Never mention the fact that he had gained 30 pounds and the seams of his pants are splitting.

Since Shaylee started preschool her language has really picked up. Her words are as clear as a bell and she's starting to use some simple sentences. Her new thing is "ohh noooo, What did i doooo" She has also picked up "that's mine" two little words I didn't want to hear, lol! But they are clear words so I'll take what i can get :) She now loves to go to school (or "cool" according to her) when we drop her off in the morning we can't even get a "bye" she runs right inside and can't wait to get to her classroom. She has a long vacation...she won't go back to school until the 29th.

Another thing she's learned is how to cross her eyes. I guess t is my fault for making funy faces at her. Now she cosses them quite frequently.....so I'm a litte worried. She goes to the doctor next tuesday and I'm going to see about an eye exam. I hope nothing is wrong. But her eye crossing is usually when she is making her funny fish face....I hope it's just a phase. What do you think?

where have i been?? Lately I've been all out of sorts, I just couldn't bear to turn on the computer. There is just so much to do!

For the last 2 days I've been sick with a stomach flu, I'm just now starting to get my bearings back. Shaylee woke up last night at 2:30 with a cough that quickly turned into gags.....so i was pretty sure she had what i had just gotten over. I gave her some Fenagrin today and that seemed to help her a lot! This afternoon she gobbled down 2 pieces of toast, So I'm hoping tonight will be an uneventfull night of sleeping :)

On Sunday me and John had a "date" the first time we've been out without Shaylee in a long time!!! We went to the movies and saw "Borat" wow.....what a crazy movie, but i laughed until i cried. I honestly couldn't believe they could get an R rating for this movie. After the movies we went out for supper at my favorite place The Bullfrog Brewery they have the best Greek salad pilied high with feta...yumm! And not to mention the Beer is amazing.....like nothing I've ever tasted!!

Well, not much more to say, so I'm going to get a head start on my rest because who knows what kind of a night I will have :)

It was very hard to get pictures of Shaylee in her halloween costume, she didn't want to cooperate. I think she was a little overwhelmed. She looked so cute though!! Once again Daddy did a great job on her costume!!!

There were so many people there it was really hard to move, so we went over to Old Navy and got Shaylees winter coat and we took her to Toys R us for some Play-doh supplies since she didn't do much trick or treating. She also got to ride the Horsies at the mall.

Shaylee went out last night, just down our street. She barged right into people's houses, she was so funny. She liked handing out candy too. I got a few pictures of her and her cousin Autumn.

I'm a little late at posting pumpkin carving pictures, Things have been pretty busy around here. John is working on Shaylee's Halloween costume, she's going to be a bear. She was going to be a Autumn Faerie, but she would be so much more excited to be a Bear. I can't wait to see her in it!!

Shaylee has added a new word to her Vocabulary......."Hello" She says it all the time. She grabs the phone and says "Hello, Hello, Hello" But it dosen't exactly sound like Hello, it sounds more like "Hell No" It's Hilarious!!!!

This morning i was cleaning out the Refrigerator and dumped a tub of Chili in the trash can. Shaylee looked in the trash and said "Ewwwww.....what's that?" I told her it was old chili and she yelled "Mommy....what's that" in a very concerned tone of voice...she was totally grossed out, lol!!

Dad is the buyer of all things Impractical. He bullied me into letting him buy Shaylee this ball pit. Now i have a huge blow up ball pit in my Dining room and I am also picking up hundreds of balls everyday because someone thinks it's funny to throw every last one out onto the floor. Thanks Dad!!!

We have yet another litter of Bunnies!!!!! John found these little guys a few weeks ago, now they are old enough to be handled. They are so darn cute, but i have no idea what to do with all of them......we have 7 babies.

Pumpkin Patch

We finally made it to the Pumpkin Patch. We couldn't have went on a more beautiful day! It was warm but still had a bit of the Autumn chill in the air. Shaylee had fun getting to know all the farm animals and ridning in the wagon down to the Pumpkin Patch.

This is when Shaylee went with her preschol class, it was much colder.

Not my best angle, but we are both looking in the same direction....I'll take what i can get!!

Did i ever mention that I LOVED FALL??? Well, I do! We go to the Pumpkin patch on Monday with Shaylees Pre-school class. Whoo-hoo, I think I'm more excited than her, lol! She does love pumpkins though.....at the Buddy Walk we had Pumpkins sitting around for decoration....she hugged and kissed every single one.

I also love Halloween, and Horror Movies.....they go hand in hand. The 2 weeks leading up to Halloween I never leave the house because every TV Channel has scary movie marathons. And Halloween wouldn't be complete without The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! Ahhh.......I can't wait!

Well anyways i'm sure you didn't come here to hear me ramble about my dorkyness, so here are some fall pictures of Shaylee.

On September 28th Shaylee was in the Newspaper. It's a great article! I don't have a scanner so i can't add the pictures to go along with the story. The man that came to interview us didn't know a thing about Down Syndrome (he asked how long Shaylee has Had Down Syndrome) Hopefully he waled away from the interview with a little more information.

Miranda Sarbaugh of Jersey Shore wants people to know her daughter is really no different from other children.
Shaylee, 3, was born with Down Syndrome.
Although Shaylee has Cognitive problems, as is normal with the congenital medical condition, she displays the curiosity and eagerness to learn of Typical 3-year olds.
"she has some delays, but nothing major" Miranda Said.
Earlier this year, Shaylee was selected to be in a film that kicked off the National Buddy Walk, an event sponsored by the National Down Syndrome Society to bring awareness about Down Syndrome and raise money for research. Shaylee appeared in the film for about 10 seconds.
Last month, the family went to New York City for the Buddy walk. They saw the kick off film on a jumbotron video screen in Time Square. They also participated in in the walk in Central Park.
A local walk is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1:15 in this citys Memorial Park.
In New York, the Sarbaughs met Chris Burke, an actor with Down Syndrome who played Corky Thatcher on the former ABC-TV show "Life Goes On".
"He's very talented" Miranda Said.
Burke, an Author and Musician, is just one example of how Down Syndrome does not necessarily liit people.
The living room of the Sarbaughs home is Shaylees playground, where she springs from one activity to another with boundless energy.
She might spend a few minutes playing on her toy stove, While the next moment will find her scribbling with a magic marker or spending time with dolls.
"She's a smart girl and we expect her to do great things" said her mother.
Miranda and her husband John fully expect their daughter to be enrolled in public school with other children her age in a couple of years.
She already knows her ABC's and works with therapist to help reach her full potential.
"Children with Down Syndrome are fully capable of doing anything they put their mind to" Miranda said.
Some children with Down Syndrome even end up going to college, Shaylees father noted.
Shaylee, Miranda added, is a persistant child and will repeatedly try to understand something she doesn't initially grasp.
Down Syndrome occurs when a person is born with three rather than two copies of the 21st chromosome, altering the course of development, acording to the National Down Syndrome Society. It is the most common chromosomal abnormality, occuring in one of every 800 to 1,000 babies.
Early Intervention is important. Therapy, a stimulating home environment and postive support from family, friends and the community are vital to helping chilren with Down Syndrome live full lives, according to the National Down Syndrome Society.
Perhaps Shaylee's most obvious problem is her problem with talking, with most of her words coming out garbled.
Children with Down Syndrome face an increased risk for certain medical conditions such as congenital heart defects, respiratory and hearing problems. Alzheimer's Disease, childhood Leukemia and Thyroid conditions.
Fortunately for Shaylee the life expectancy for those with Down Syndrome has increased since 1983 from age 25 to 56.
Her parents feel that their daughter has been nothing but a blessing since she was born.
Shaylee's name is Irish for a place where Faeries gather, according to her mother.
"And she's a maical little girl. She's brought so much into our lives" she said "We celebrate the small things. We don't take anything for granted"

Buddy Walk

We had a Great time at our Buddy Walk today! We met lots of new people and got Caught up with ones we havn't seen in awhile. Shaylee loved being with all the kids. I would have liked to get more pictures but we were so busy chasing her around. The pictures i did get are mostly of the Back of her head.

My Five Things I'm Greatful for this week

1. Our Buddy Walk is today!!! I'm so greatful we get to spend the day with such amazing friends.

2. I'm so greatful for the Kids in Shaylees Preschool class for embracing her and taking her under their wings. She is doing better and better at school everyday!

3. I'm Greatful for the Wonderful article in the Newspaper that was written about Shaylee. I will type it out soon (it's been on my "to Do" list for a couple of weeks!)

4. Shaylees viral Rash is starting to go away.

5. I will be greatful for Wednesday and Thursday of this week, Why you ask? Because John has been working his butt off at work for 11 straight nights (12 hour shifts) he has these two days off!! Finally time to decorate for Halloween!

The content will mostly be about Cooking, Crafting, Junking, Decorating and my Ramblings (mamma needs a creative outlet!) Hope you check it out and find something usefull.

I decided on the Name "Ruby Slippers and Apron Srings" because of my love of Shoes, Red and The Wizard of OZ. I also have a passion for Vintage Aprons, and i have quite a big collection, I can't get enough!!!! Im Addicted to Aprons!

Preschool Cooties

The dreaded Preschool germies got to my girl. On Tuesday night I noticed she felt a little hot, and she had a temp of 101, she was also a little pale and her eyes were red. She seemed fine though, she was acting like her normal self. Thursday i decided to keep her home from School just to be safe because she had a low grade fever. I started noticing her belly and neck were all blotchy, not really a rash, but similar. So we went to see the doctor, he looked her over and noticed her ear drum was a little red, so he prescribed her some Amoxacillin. The Rash though is Viral :( So there's not much we can do about that. Darn it! But, i guess that somes with the territory.

Our Buddy walk is This Sunday!! I made Shaylee and her friend Gabriel T-shirts, they are going to look so cute!!
